There is no road to Nongriat. There is no cable car, no jeep track, no shortcut anyone has found in two hundred years. There is a staircase cut into the side of a gorge, two wire bridges strung over a river, and about 3,300 steps between you and the Double Decker.
Then you turn around and do it again, upwards, in the heat.
It is the hardest day of this trip and it is the reason people book this trip.
Day three is 3,300 steps down and 3,300 back up, over about five hours with long breaks. No technical climbing, but real legs required. If your knees are a problem, say so in the form. We'd rather know now than at the trailhead.
Nongjrong's sunrise is entirely weather-dependent. Some batches get the full sea of clouds. Some get rain and a very good story. Monsoon is the reason the waterfalls exist — it's also the reason we can't promise you a clear sky.

Because the waterfalls only exist properly in monsoon. Nohkalikai in October is a trickle; in August it's the reason people come. You will get rained on. That's the trade, and it's a good one.
Around 3,300 steps down and the same back up, over roughly five hours with long breaks. No technical climbing, no equipment. Regular walkers manage it comfortably. Bad knees genuinely struggle — tell us in the form and we'll be straight with you rather than sell you a seat.
